Precision Machining

We know precisely what you

need when it comes to Precision Machining

Venturing into the 20th century, equipment and machines have become increasingly complex. Many high-precision parts are difficult to make with conventional processes. Manual machining can no longer fulfil the needs of the manufacturing industry. In 1952, the first CNC milling machine was developed, marking the birth of this amazing technology.

CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining employs computer-controlled machine tools functioning under numerical control to create highly complex parts. Various aspects of the process (feed rate, machining location, speed and coordination) can be customized to meet specific requirements of a part. Our CNC workshops utilize a variety of 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machines, including Chinese made and imported machines from the US, Japan and Taiwan.

Aluminium, brass, magnesium, nickel, steel, zinc, titanium and many alloys, as well as wood, foam, fiberglass, plastics and polymers can all be CNC machined.

CNC machining tolerances may vary depending on the material and CNC machine type. Typical tolerance standard is set to ±0.005″/0.13mm, but most CNC processes can have even tighter tolerances. For more details on the tolerances of each CNC process, please refer to the sections below.

CNC machining processes we provide

As an all-round manufacturing service company, Omnidex provides a plethora of CNC machining solutions, including CNC Milling and CNC Lathe:

CNC Milling

CNC milling machines use rotating multi-point cutting tools to progressively remove unwanted material from a block of material. We use a range of 3, 4 or 5-axis industrial grade CNC milling machines for our CNC milling work. 3-axis machines can move the milling tool (or the workpiece) on the 3 linear X, Y and Z axes, while 4-axis and 5-axis machines add the rotating A and B axes to the equation.

• Maximum part size: 20 m x 4 m x 3 m
• Maximum machining area: 12 m x 3.5 m x 2.5 m

CNC Lathe (Turning):

CNC lathe tolerances:

CNC lathe machines rotate the workpiece with a spindle while a fixed cutting tool slices the unwanted material away. This process is used to produce cylindrical parts that is symmetrical around the same axis.

•  Maximum part diameter: 2.5 m

Advantages of CNC machining

•  High precision and accuracy machining capabilities
•  Fully automated, reducing labour cost and eliminating human error
Versatile application, can handle very complex designs
•  H
ighly scalable with excellent consistency

We may offer other specialized CNC processes based on your requirement. Please consult our Sale Department for more information.

CNC machining is different from conventional machining processes in many ways. The use of computer software to control the machining tools adds a lot of benefits, and in many cases can negate the higher equipment and production costs, making them the ideal solutions for small production of precision parts or fast prototyping.
